iPhone 14 series: Design, features, price

The lineup for the iPhone 14 has been revealed. The iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max are the four models in the lineup. Finally, the notch on the 14 Pro series, which Apple first introduced with the iPhone X in 2017, has been retired.

Apple refers to this pill-shaped cutout as the Dynamic Island and replaces the notch with it. It houses the camera and Face-ID sensors. The iPhone 13 mini is the final mini-sized iPhone available, marking the end of the iPhone mini era. Let’s take a closer look at each iPhone that will be unveiled on September 7, 2022, at Apple’s Far Out event.

Insignificant sales figures ushered the end of the iPhone mini lineup. Compared to the normal 6.1-inch iPhone 12 and 13, the iPhone 12 and 13 mini devices had very low sales figures. And, since people prefer larger phones, Apple has introduced a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Plus alongside the 6.1-inch iPhone 14.

However, apart from the larger size of the iPhone 14 Plus, the iPhone 14 has incremental upgrades compared to the iPhone 13. Keep these side by side, and you won’t be able to tell them apart.

The displays on the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus are 6.1 and 6.7 inches, respectively. Both variants are made of aerospace-grade aluminium and have ceramic shield glass on the front and back. The iPhones are water and dust resistant to IP68 standards.

Everything in terms of design is the same outside these modifications. The camera module and the notch are both the same size. The diagonal camera alignment is maintained, and so forth. The performance has improved even though the iPhone 14’s processor is the A15 Bionic SoC.

Although the A15 Bionic SoC from the previous generation is present in the iPhone 14, it is the processor from the iPhone 13 Pro and not the regular 13. Compared to the iPhone 13, the A15 SoC’s 5 GPU cores are 18% quicker and allow smoother graphics in demanding applications like gaming.

The iPhone 14 Pro lineup also has the features of the iPhone 14 lineup in addition to the characteristics mentioned above. The iPhone 14 Pro series includes features like eSIM capabilities, crash detection, and Emergency SOS via satellite.

The iPhone 14 Pro costs $999, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max costs $1,099. There are four colour choices available: Gold, Silver, Space Black, and Deep Purple.
